The Dorcas Ministry group is truly blessed. In addition to the devotions, prayers, fellowship and love we have in our small but mighty groups, we enjoy delightful on-going relationships and interactions with other La Verne Heights Ministry Groups.
Our objectives for 2016 were met by our continued fellowship in our weekly meetings; by continuing our memory box program; by making and donating items to local hospitals, organizations and homeless in our neighborhoods; by interacting with other Ministry groups; and by fulfilling our Alternative Christmas list.
We work alongside the Homelessness Ministry to provide 100+ scarves and hats for the yearly Glenkirk homeless dinner; with the Connect Ministry to provide afghans, lap blankets and quilts as requested for specific individuals and specific occasions; with Children’s Ministry to provide baby blankets for new LVHPC babies; and with Missions Ministry making 40+ blankets for our girls at the Providence Children’s home in Kenya.
2016 recipients included:
Angel Interfaith Network, City of Hope, David & Margaret Youth and Family Services, Glenkirk, House of Ruth, La Casa de San Gabriel, local homeless shelters, LVHPC Home bound and Children’s Ministries, Neo-natal hospitals all across the nation, Pregnancy Center, Pomona Hope, Providence Children’s Home, Serenity, Trinity Presbyterian Church-Pasadena to fill their teen baskets for AIN, and VNA.
The Dorcas daytime group meets every Monday from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in Laird Hall to knit and crochet. Regular participants in the Monday Group:
