Ministry groups are the backbone of the mission and outreach work of LVHPC. This is a report on the 2016 shared work of those groups. The reports of the work of each of our individual ministry groups follow this report.
There are five main activities in which the ministry groups shared in 2016, as follows:
The moderators of our ministry groups (or their designees) met quarterly throughout the year to coordinate our work.
Instead of holding a January “Ministry Group Sunday”, the church held a “Kick-Off” Sunday on Sept. 11, in which our ministry groups participated. As well, each month was dedicated to the exploration of one of our ministry groups.
All the ministry groups prepared annual reports for the Session that were submitted by October 15.
We once again held our Alternative Christmas celebration, raising for related ministries on Dec. 5 a total of $7,950.
On January 24, we premiered two videos on our church’s ministry groups. What’s A Church to Do and What Is A Ministry Group. They were then placed upon our church’s website, where they get viewed regularly by people visiting our site
Two courses were planned and are going to be offered to our congregation, beginning February 5, 2017. The purpose of these courses is to enable church members and friends to discern God’s call upon their lives, and to provide means for people to live out their call through our church. Finding Purpose In My Life: Discerning My Call will be offered Sunday mornings from Feb. 5 through April 9, and Finding Purpose In My Life: Acting On My Call will be offered April 25 through June 25.
My term as Coordinator for Ministry Groups ended on December 31, 2016. And we are delighted to have Elder Patricia Guild assume that coordinator role for 2017. So I feel that our church’s ministry group effort is in the very best of hands!
